"Don't judge!" "Only God can judge me!" "Who are u to judge?!" These are popular statements among today's society, but if only God can judge us, then why do some of us live as if we're not going to be judged at all?
Before the flood of Noah, Noah warned the ppl about God's coming judgment, but they continued to party, get drunk, fornicate, steal, & lie as if God didn't even exist. I imagine that some of them told Noah "Only God can judge me! God knows my heart. I'm a good person!" Sad to say, but this is how some of us carry on today.
Don't we know that those who know God's will, but don't obey Him will receive a greater judgment than those who didn't know God's will? (Luke 12:47-48).
The excuses that we give one another for our sins will not work with God. Our secrets, motives, & intentions are transparent b4 Him. He knows why we do what we do. Nor should we take advantage of His grace as an excuse 2 keep sinning. Christ sacrificed His life for us...to give us Life IN HIM. So let's live according to the knowledge that 1 day...Christ will judge us, & stop making excuses to live for ourselves.
The slogan "don't judge!" comes from Matthew chapter 7, verse 1. The entire context is Matthew chapter 7, verses 1-5. It doesn't say that Believers should never EVER judge. Christ said that we shouldn't judge someone for something that we practice as well, because that is hypocrisy. Christ said to FIRST judge yourself so that you can see clearly to help your brother. So, if a fellow Believer falls into sin, we should examine ourselves first & if we're able to help that person...we should.
People often take verses out of context to make it say what they wish. This is why it's crucial to pray & study individually for true understanding & protection from false teachings.
Many conveniently ignore the verses where Christ said to judge. "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment." (John 7:24) In Matthew 7:15-20 Christ said to judge prophets by their fruits (actions) because many wolves in sheep's clothing would come & deceive Believers.
Genesis to Revelations shows that God expects us to judge mercifully & in an upright manner (based on His standards). We're expected to judge what goes on within us & without (at assemblies), because sin is very influential & it spreads quickly. The best example I can give is mold. If you don't clean it up when it first appears, it will eventually spread over everything. Do you want to live in a moldy house? I don't! Neither does God. He doesn't want to hang out at moldy assemblies. It's apparent that God doesn't hang out at some services, which is why they put on entertaining acts & performances to compensate for God's absence.
The fact that Christians are leaving moldy services to fellowship other places, goes to show the level of mold at some services. People are failing to judge within & without...thus the mold grows & grows while the world points fingers shouting "hypocrites!!"
This was foretold in Scripture. It's called "the apostasy" or "the falling away" of the last days...where many ppl fall away from God for whatever reason, but instead of leaving the assembly, they continue in Godless worship in Jesus' name. Now there r assemblies full of undiscerning hypocrites & the world actually thinks that they're representative of Jesus Christ. What a mess!
Christ is our final judge, so we should (in wisdom) judge what's going on now so that we don't get chastened later. Why wait? No one will be able to "get right with God" at final judgment. Appreciate God's patience & mercy today. Get right today. "Decide this day whom ye shall serve." .....if you want to serve yourself, then stop using Jesus' name as an excuse to live wrong...live wrong in your own name. Knowing that only Christ will judge us then...let's live for Him today.
